Stop.

My heart breaks bones,
one breath at a time.
Lungs reach for nothing.
Throat numb,
from the words you choked me with.
And my eyes,
see nothing but the snow falling,
in every season.
Purple ice cracks and bleeds.
And blue lips pinned between teeth,
keep my tongue in place.
Mountains in my chest,
anchor my feet to this spot,
this spot where you dislocated my dreams.

Love the opening, it's so fantastic at portraying the rejection.
"My heart breaks bones" is such an awesome lline; makes me imagine that the heart beats with such speed and fear that it breaks the bones which are there to protect it. The blue lips pinned to keep my tongue in place is also an awesome idea :D Love all of the imagery, the way it balances between violence and gentle snow, fragile ice and then sturdy mountains, all seeming to symbolise different effects or maybe even stages of the rejection. Awesome poem!! I'm so glad you've written something :love:
